Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long is the spring season?

  • A: T-Ball practice starts April 15th and ends May 30th. The Rookies, Minors, Majors, and Preps season will being March 17th and will end with a final tournament finished before Memorial Day weekend. The softball season begins on March 17th and will end by May 31st.

Q: When are games and practices during spring season?

  • A: Games are played Monday-Saturday depending on your child's age, they may have between 1 and 3 games a week. Practice dates and times will be determined by your coach. Practices can begin on March 17th for all divisions except for T-Ball. T-Ball practice can begin on April 15th.

Q: Where are games and practices during spring season?

  • A: T-Ball through Majors will play most games at Stampede Park/Snake River Elementary or Les Goodman/Lakeview Park. Preps will play at Lone Star Middle School and will be traveling to away games. Softball will play at Midway Park. Practice fields are extremely limited in Nampa this will be dependent on what your coach can find available. 

Q: How long are games?

  • A: All game items may vary, time limits and game rules for all age divisions can be located in the document tab on the website.

Q: Does my child have to try out?

  • A: Rookies, Minors, Majors, and Preps have assessments during spring season. All softball divisions also have assessments during spring season. All players are expected to attend. However, every player will get assigned to a team regardless of whether they are present for assessments or not. 

Q: When will I know what team my child is on?

  • A: During spring season teams are selected by a draft process. When the draft selection process is complete coaches will be reaching out to their team members. You should hear from your coach no later than March 14th. If you haven't received a phone call or email from your coach by then please contact your division director.  

Q: What uniform will my child need?

  • A: Baseball players will receive a team shirt and a hat (responsible for their own socks). Softball players will receive a team shirt and socks (responsible for their own hats if desired). All players are responsible for pants, belts, and shoes (cleats preferred).

Q: What equipment will my child need?

  • A: A baseball or softball glove is all that is required. If the players have their own batting helmets, bats, or catchers gear they are encouraged to use it. Otherwise the team will have extra bats, helmets, practice balls and one set of catchers gear.

Q: Can I volunteer? If so, how do I volunteer and what can I do?

  • A: Volunteers are definitely needed in the form of Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Umpires, Team Moms, Concessions, Scorekeepers, Field Maintenance Volunteers, and more. Please contact the board if you are interested.

Q: Will my child's game have an umpire?

  • A: Umpires are supplied for all Minor, Major, Preps, 10U, 12U, and 14/16U divisions. All other age divisions will have a parent or volunteer umpire. Please be patient and respectful of all umpires. 

Q: Are there any qualifications needed for coaching?

  • A: For the 2021 season we require all coaches to go through a background check and to be certified through www.baberuthcoaching.org

Q: Do I have to live in Nampa for my child to play in Nampa Babe Ruth?

  • A: Softball players must reside in Canyon County. In order for a baseball player to participate in NBR they must reside in Nampa or be attending school in the Nampa School District boundaries. If you lived in Nampa and began your NBR career here and moved away you may continue to play here until you reach the age of 12.
